A level English Literature Theatre Visits

A level English Literature students have visited Bristol Hippodrome and The Tobacco Factory in recent weeks to watch theatre adaptations relating to their studies.

Students watched an outstanding adaptation of Michael Morpurgo’s War Horse at the Bristol Hippodrome; it was an excellent opportunity to see an ambitious and successful art form deployed with mastery. The puppetry and minimalistic set made for interesting discussions; the students found the evening thoroughly enjoyable and incredibly moving. The visit will support the students' study of First World War literature and its aftermath.

Last week, students also visited The Tobacco Factory to watch an impressive performance of Waiting for Godot, written by Samuel Beckett.

During the evening, students were able to appreciate the intensity created by such a small cast performing Beckett’s acclaimed play. The absurdist performance was an intriguing experience for A level students to see and certainly provoked some interesting class discussions!
