Clifton High School 'Talented in Sport' visits

On Tuesday 6th December and Thursday 15th December both Junior and Senior pupils, identified in Clifton High School's ‘Talented in Sport’ programme, visited the University of Bath to take part in an elite sports day.

The Junior School visit involved skills tests, where children were tested on basic agility, hand eye co-ordination and speed. The day was made even more enjoyable with an opportunity for a question and answer session with an elite Judo athlete.  The children worked very hard throughout the day and asked excellent questions of the Judo athlete, showing a real interest in his training.

Senior School pupils were tested in 'speed for sport' and strength and conditioning sessions. Pupils also had the opportunity to work in a sports science lab where they conducted a VO2 Max test on a treadmill, a max strength test on arms and legs and a speed test on a bike. This was a fantastic opportunity for pupils to gain experience in sports science testing and different careers within the sports industry. Senior pupils also met with the British Judo Champion and spent an hour asking questions regarding his training, diet and competition schedule.

The visit was a great success for both Junior and Senior School pupils and a great way to launch Clifton High School's Talented in Sport programme.
