Lily in Year 10 is a keen archer and first became interested in archery after reading The Hunger Games trilogy. Following a taster session at her local North Bristol archery club, Cleve Archers, coaches felt that Lily had potential and encouraged her to complete a full junior introductory course.
Two years later, Lily now trains several days a week, has entered tournaments and has developed her archery skills further as part of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Bronze Award. Lily has progressed through several different bows and has expanded her knowledge about shooting techniques, safety protocols and what a quiver is used for (a bag for carrying arrows).
“I would encourage others to try the taster days that many archery clubs run, the coaches are great. It’s quite an unusual sport so is quite a talking point and there’s no better feeling than hitting the target!” - Lily.
We look forward to hearing about Lily’s progression in such an interesting extra-curricular sport and wish her the best of luck in future competitions!
