Wednesday saw a five-hour Studio Shoot of specialist digital photography workshops for Year 10 Life Skills and Competencies pupils and for Y12-13 A level Art and Design students.
The students made good use of the school's new semi-professional camera kits complete with quality sensor cameras, various lenses, powerful hot show flash and reflector dishes and the new mobile digital photography studio set which includes constant low energy lights which are great to learn with, backdrops, stands and reflectors.
CHS teaching and in-house specialist staff have been joined by external professional studio and wedding portrait photographer Ruth Garner (www.RuthGarnerPhotography.com) to run the workshops.
The photography students have now almost completed a fascinating course including sessions on composition, using Adobe Photoshop, post-production workflow, video, lighting of studio sets and the history of photography.
CHS recognises that photography skills are a highly useful tool to help gain employment even if photography is not core to the job in question. There will be future opportunities for these students to fine tune their skills in a variety of genres such as sport, journalism, fashion, wildlife or scenic.
