On Thursday 20th September, the School hosted their first open event of the academic year. The evening specifically for entry into the Senior School and Sixth Form saw current and perspective pupils and parents meet teachers, tour the school, explore the subjects on offer and gain bespoke advice for their academic future.
Head of School, Dr Alison Neill, was joined by a panel of existing pupils from the Senior School and Sixth Form for an open session where they answered questions from the guests. This discussion and question and answer session helped to provide everyone with an important and valuable first-hand perspective and insight into life at Clifton High from its pupils.
The current cohort encouraged people to become involved in the Clifton High School community and opportunities available to them as early as possible to reap the personal rewards and benefits of being part of the School. Those who had experienced the Diamond Edge Model of education spoke very highly of it, and thought it was one of the best things about the school, feeling that they personally benefited from lessons with the same sex at this formative time in their lives and education in core subjects. They felt it gave them a confidence and adaptability once they moved into their GCSE years and even into their A level studies. The Sixth Form students praised the bespoke nature of their subjects and learning, due to class sizes, and the unprecedented support they receive in them. This was further developed on by the new Deputy Head; Head of Sixth Form, Mr Sam Adams, who spoke of the growth and ambition to develop, help achieve and prepare its students for their examinations and life after higher education.
Pupils also helped conduct the tours and acted as great ambassadors of the School during the evening, to really allow the guests to understand the experience that themselves, or their children would have as a pupil at Clifton High School, after all, they are the experts. Thank you to all the pupils who gave up their time for the event, and represented the School in true Clifton High fashion; so admirably and with such pride.
It was an enjoyable and informative evening and we look forward to welcoming guests to our next open event which will be for the whole school. The Nursey to Sixth Form Open Morning will be held at the School on Saturday 20th October 9.30am – 12noon.
