Solar Eclipse

Solar Eclipse on Camera

This morning the whole school; pupils, staff and parents, gathered outside to enjoy the solar eclipse. Eclipses are quite rare; the last total solar eclipse visible from the UK was in 1999. Today we saw a partial eclipse, the moon passed in front of the sun, blotted out about 85% of the sunlight in Bristol and became a crescent shape, instead of a disc.

Sebastian Serrudo-Gossner, Year 12, expertly photographed the eclipse and also captured it on film. Dr Camacho, Head of Physics, set up a projection of the eclipse using a telescope and a lens so everyone could view the eclipse safely.
